Fly Fishing Accessories, The Must Haves

When getting into the hobby or as some like to call it the obsession of fly fishing, there will be the must have fly fishing accessories, and the things that you don't need right away, and may like to add at a later time.

I am going to go over some of the must have fly fishing accessories to endure that you will have a greater chance of success and less frustration when going on your first fly fishing trip, or looking for the best Fly Fishing Gifts.

Starting with the most important fly fishing accessory is the fly fishing vest, it is one of the must have tools of the trade when you enter into the world of fly fishing. Let's face it, carpenters have their tool belts, construction workers have their hard hats, and fly fishermen have their fly fishing vests. Without a fly vest you will spend too much of your time looking for fly fishing lures, insect repellent, etc. A good fly fishing vest will have everything you need at your fingertips.

Other items that you might want to consider that in many situations are a must is sunscreen. It is recommended that you purchase a sunscreen with at least a SPF of 35-40 to ensure protection from the long hours that will be spent in the suns rays.

Insect repellent is a must, do yourself a favor and make sure you get a waterproof brand, especially if you will be wading. Some of the recommendations that I have are, Kiss My Face Waterproof Insect Repellent, or Bite Blocker Deet Free Waterproof Insect Repellent.

Other fly fishing accessories that you should have are clippers, a large set of fingernail clippers will do nicely, a set of forceps are always very handy for removing those hard to reach hooks from that prize trout you just hooked. Rain gear is a must, and you never want to be caught un-prepared, find yourself a good poncho.

Of course the fly fishing specific supplies including fly fishing flies, and extra line for those emergency repairs and fly changes. You will want to ensure that you have everything that you could possibly need on your body, take it from experience, the ultimate frustration is making multiple trips back to your vehicle because you forgot something.

If you are serious about getting involved into the world of fly fishing, it is a good idea to make a list of all of the things that you will possibly need for your fishing trip. Then you can make a plan of all of the fly fishing accessories you will need, and how to carry them.

Fly Fishing is truly a Niche in itself, and demands a more dedicated type of fisherman than your average rod and reel weekend hobby fisherman. But there is nothing like the feeling of landing your first fish on a fly that you made yourself, but that is another subject for another time.

Being prepared and having all of the necessary fly fishing accessories that you will need will ensure that you have a great time and continue to return to that favorite fishing spot again and again.
